Special to The Leader
Marlin Williams was the featured author at Fluer Fine Books in Port Neches on Saturday, October ninth, where he read excerpts from his published books, The Attic Piranhas and Road Games and Other Weird Tales. Influenced at a young age by old science fiction and horror flicks, his imagination is a bottomless well of creepy crawlies trying to get out, bizarre situations, and downright weird tales. In the real world, he lives a relatively normal life in a small Texas town with his wife, two cats, and a dog.
Destiny Beckner and Sheila Dandurand joined a gathering of twenty book fans who attended. They were introduced to Williams’ unique characters that are eccentrically engaging and include Max Fagan in The Attic Piranhas; a fantasy/action novel with a funny bone, and Coaly Banks, a personal favorite of Williams’, who makes three appearances in his collection of ten short stories, Road Games and Other Weird Tales. The Agency, an award-winning short story influenced by his love of Hitchcock films and old black and white Hollywood thrillers is included in the collection as well. His short story, Mesmerized, will be included in a Moon Man anthology that will be published by Airship 27 Publishing in the coming months. Frederick C. Davis (1902-1977) created the Moon Man, a pulp fiction hero of the Robin Hood ilk, who appeared in detective magazines. Since that time, the character has gone back to public domain, which opened the door for many pulp fiction writers to continue the adventures of the character.
Marlin’s current work is a techno thriller novel titled New Flesh on Old Bones that promises to be a page-turner. His future plans are to keep writing and perfecting the craft while building friendships with his readers and getting back to the roots of traditional publishing.
You can find autographed copies of his books on the shelves of Fleur Fine Books in Port Neches. Marlin’s books can also be found at Barnes and Noble and Amazon as either an ebook or in paperback.
