On Sunday, April 9 we went to the Lion’s Park to celebrate my grandson’s fourth birthday. I lived in Orange my younger years and even brought my children to this same park. The playground area is still in pretty good shape, however, the outer grounds were terrible. There was trash all over, the restrooms were nasty and had no toilet paper at all. There were some people at the covered far area that kept fighting and we thought several times we needed to call the law. I was very upset at how this park is getting very little upkeep. I also feel the police should do some drive bys on the weekends. It will be a shame if this park continues to go downhill. Schools used to bring children for picnics after field trips to the Lutcher Theater; I would not recommend it now! Needless to say, we will go to Claiborne Park next time; and the five families that were with us, will not go back to this park either.
