Orange County Health Inspectors spent last year informing all the establishments of the changes the Texas Food Establishment Rules made in September 2015 and local food establishment businesses are responsible for following.

“Beginning in 2017 we will be enforcing these changes,” Health Inspector James Scales said. “You might see that “the latest Health Inspection Report” was not posted in the front of the establishment for the general public to view. Others might include “Hand washing Signs” and “First Aid Kits.”

Pine Forest Fuel received a health score of 76 out of a possible 100 during a recent inspection.

“Lots of attention is needed at this location,” Scales wrote on the checklist for the report. “Follow up visits are required in order to get the establishment up to code.”

Violations found during the inspection included white gravy found at unsafe temperatures in a nonworking cooler, sausage at unsafe temperatures inside a warmer that was turned off, live worms found stored above premade hamburger patties, the empty lot next to the establishment being full of construction material and trash, the need for paper towels in the employees restroom, and dishes found inside the handwashing sink.

Demerits include fry warmer and toaster need to be cleaned, broken Slushi machine found near drive-thru, need to repair/remove floors. Walls, ceilings, outside of equipment and storage shelves need to be cleaned, restrooms sink/toilet spray painted and paint chipping off.

Demerits include toaster needs to be cleaned, hand washing signs not posted at the back hand washing station.

Demerits include ice scoop found on top of ice machine, bottles of chemicals being stored on top of buckets of spices, water found sitting on bottom of reach-in cooler and walk-in cooler, storage shelves, floors, walls, ceilings and air vents need cleaning. All broken/unused equipments needs to be repaired/removed from restaurant.
