Flash flood warnings continue

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has a flash flood watch in effect for all of southeast Texas, as well as parts of western Louisiana, including Vernon, Beauregard, Allen, Calcasieu, Jeff Davis, and Cameron Parishes. More rain is expected tonight into Friday, and again on Saturday. When all is said and done, an additional 2 to 6 inches of rain is expected, with locally higher amounts of 10 to 12 inches possible. Flash flood warnings will be issued during times of the heavy rain.
Due to the rainfall, area rivers are expected to flood as well. The good news is it is not expected to be as bad as the March floods. Minor flooding is expected along the Neches, Sabine, Village Creek, Pine Island Bayou, and Calcasieu Rivers. The only location where we are expecting a moderate flood is near Town Bluff on the Neches River.
A drying trend is forecast for next week, with temperatures warming up into the upper 80s to lower 90s.
In the tropics, there is a medium chance for a tropical cyclone to develop in the southern Gulf of Mexico, and steer towards Florida early next week. No threat to our region is anticipated at this time, but we will send out a daily update through the weekend to keep everyone informed.
