Lonnie David Taft

Lonnie David Taft, 67, of Floresville, Texas, formerly a lifelong resident of the Orange and Port Arthur areas, passed away on Monday January 25, 2016 in Floresville. Lonnie was born in Orange, Texas on January 9, 1949 to his parents Joseph E. and Gloria Harrington Taft, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are his step-mother; Frances Taft, brother; Glenn Anthony Taft, and sister; Cynthia Rach. He was a 1967 Graduate of Stark High School in Orange and then served in the United States Army in Viet Nam with military honors. He later on went to work for and retired from Turner Industries as a welder and tool room craftsman. Lonnie loved welding, working on model airplanes, being around fast drag race cars and hot rods having one of his own, a 1984 truck equipped with a corvette engine. He also built Bar B Que pits and sold them, loved going gambling, playing dominoes, and poker. One unique quality Lonnie possessed was the ability to crack jokes on the spur of the moment.
Surviving Lonnie are three daughters; Stephanie Kahl, Tiffany Williams, Crystal Graham, brother; Joseph P. Taft of Iowa, sister; I. Doreen Taft of Seguin, three Grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
