VIDOR — A Vidor area family is “feeling the love” thanks to Innovative Air Solutions and manufacturer Lenox.
On Thursday, representatives of Innovative Air Solutions loaded up a brand new a/c unit and installed it at the Vidor area home of Chelsey Walters.
Walters was nominated for the new unit as part of the Innovative Air Solutions’ “Feel the Love” initiative in partnership with Lennox.
Ashla Taylor, Innovative Air Solutions marketing and CSR manager said Walters was nominated by her daughter in college. The daughter told of how her mom, a single mother, cared for and provided for her and her siblings and put her through college. At one point Walters worked three jobs at one time to get her children where they needed to be as far as having them in a good school and good home life, Taylor said.
Walters was notified by surprise at her place of work in late September. Taylor said Walters’ coworkers felt she was deserving.
Nominations for the free unit were accepted during the summer for folks in need of assistance. For example, nominees could include families facing hard times, first responders who serve others, or senior citizens whose A/C needs constant repairs.
Taylor said Walters’ a/c unit had been destroyed in Hurricane Harvey and she relied on window units to cool her home. During the winter Walters used space heaters, carefully.
During a site visit representatives with Innovative Air Solutions noticed Walters’ water heater was not in good condition so they went a step ahead and contacted a Beaumont business that offered to supply a new water heater for the family.
Taylor said their vendor Lennox offers the charitable Feel the Love initiative each year and the local company wanted to be involved to give back to the community.
This year marked the first time Innovative Air took part in the giveaway. They received 15 nominations, she added.
