Come float away at a first-of-its-kind “Hot Air Balloon Glo Festival” held in Bridge City next month.
The festival, slated for Sep. 14, will include live music; food vendors; arts and crafts; kids’ activities; and, of course, hot air balloons.
“There really hasn’t been anything like this in the area,” Bridge City Chamber of Commerce Director Mandy Lyda said. “Everybody come out, it’s going to be a great event for the family and community.
The festival highlight will undoubtedly be the 10 hot air balloons at the event grounds. While nine of the 10 will be on the ground, the flame which keeps them inflated will cause the colorful designs to glow amidst the darkness once night falls.
For those who want to take to the skies, rides are available in a tethered balloon which will take passengers up into the air. These rides cost $25 cash.
Aside from the balloons, there’s plenty of entertainment for the whole family.
Two live music performances will keep the vibes high as the Jamie Nichols Band and Runnin’ on Credit both take the stage throughout the evening. The Bridge City Strutters and Orangefield Sophisticats will also perform acts.
Food trucks and other vendors will sell refreshments. Local arts and crafts vendors will also be on-site to sell their specialties.
For the kids, there will be a zone with inflatables, face painting, and even a petting zoo for children to make furry friends.
A ‘glo golf cart parade’ will cap off the night at 9 p.m. Anyone is welcome to enter, so long as they register ahead of time. Those interested in participating can find a registration form on the Chamber of Commerce Facebook page or call the Chamber’s phone number.
The festival will be located at the BC Elementary and Intermediate School grounds. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the event runs until 10 p.m.
Admission costs $10, while kids under six years old get in free.
