The National Weather Service is forecasting potentially dangerous midweek heat across Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.
A release sent by the NWS says conditions are right for temperatures to soar over the coming days. High pressure combined with dry air in the region may cause high temperatures to creep into the low 100s through Friday, Aug. 9. Heat indices may reach even higher, potentially pushing 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
Tuesday
- High temperatures between 96-100 degrees
- Max heat index between 103-113 degrees
Wednesday
- High temperatures between 96-102 degrees
- Max heat index between 104-113 degrees
Thursday
- High temperatures between 97-102 degrees
- Max heat index between 105-114 degrees
Friday
- High temperatures between 97-101 degrees
- Max heat index between 102-111 degrees
Residents should ensure they take proper precautions to combat the heat. Be sure to drink plenty of hydrating fluids, take frequent breaks if working outdoors, and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
