While Hurricane Beryl caused minimal damage to Southeast Texas, the storm’s impact is still being felt several days after landfall thanks to widespread power outages across the region.
Entergy has issued an update which says the company expects to restore power to 50% of impacted customers by the end of day, July, 10. The update also says the Orange and Port Arthur Networks should be fully functional again no later than July 11.
The Orange Network, which includes Bridge City, Pine Forest, Pinehurst, Rose City, Vidor, and surrounding areas. Outage maps showed an estimated 1,150 customers without power as of 2 p.m, July 10.
The Port Arthur Network includes Groves, Nederland, Port Neches, Taylor Landing and surrounding areas. Outage maps estimate that around 400 customers in that network are still powerless at the same time.
Hurricane Beryl left approximately 247,000 Entergy Texas customers without power across the state, with thousands of those affected residing in Jefferson and Orange Counties.
Since the storm, an Entergy workforce of nearly 1,600 employees have been working to restore power around the region.
The company statement also encourages customers to stay away from job sites while crews work, as they can be dangerous locations and interruptions slow workers’ progress. People should steer clear of downed power lines due to safety concerns, as well.
