ORANGE — LC-M jumped out to an early lead and never looked back to claim another win in District 18-4A as the Lady Bears defeated the Jasper Lady Bulldogs 10-0 in just four-and-half innings on Tuesday night at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School.

Lady Bears pitcher Tessa Erickson only allowed one hit against Jasper. She faced 17 batters for the game and struck out nine, including six in a row during the second and third innings.

LC-M jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning as Eden Frenzel started things off with a triple. Kendal Jones batted second and hit a single to send Frenzel home. Erickson grounded out on her turn at the plate, but she still managed to bring a run home, as did Keylie Washburn on her base hit.

The Lady Bears’ bats came to life again in the second as Frenzel smacked a double this time and scored Asia Woodson on an RBI. Jones hit a triple on her next time at the plate and added another RBI as well to give LC-M a 5-0 lead after the second.

In the third inning, Jillian Brown connected on the pitch and made it to first base, which also Washburn home for another LC-M run. A couple of batters later, Ella Stephenson hit a ground ball and was tossed out at first, but LC-M was able to push another run across for a 7-0 advantage.

LC-M scored three more runs in the fourth inning when Erickson hit a single to advance to first, but a bad throw by the Lady Bulldogs helped push two more runs across the plate. Washburn hit a deep ball to centerfield for an out, but it allowed another runner to score for the 10-0 win.

Frenzel finished with two hits, which included a triple and a double, while Jones had two hits, a single and a triple, and two RBIs as well. Washburn added a single and double and two RBIs as LC-M punished Jasper with eight hits, while the Lady Bulldogs totaled five errors in the loss.

The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears will travel to Bridge City to face the Lady Cardinals in a highly anticipated District 18-4A contest.
