There will be fun on the river next weekend as Explore Orange presents the Deep South Racing Association Boat Races March 15 and March 16 at the Riverside Pavilion and Orange Boat Ramp.
The drag boats will exhibit their skills in a series of adrenaline-pumping races to the finish line, according to information from the city.
Gates open at 10 a.m. March 15 where there will be boat races, food vendors and kid’s activities. The action continues at 10 a.m March 16 with boat races and food vendors.
Alison Clary, communication and marketing coordinator with the city of Orange, said the city has hosted the event for 10 years nonconsecutively. A previous boat race event called Rock the River was held in May but coincided with Port Neches riverFest which features tunnel boat races. May is also a busy time of the year for many families with school and proms and more. Moving the races to the spring seemed a better fit.
DSRA has been a staple of the racing community for many years, according to their website. The organization touts having some of the biggest names in racing as they “continue to provide a top notch experience for both racers and spectators.”
