Vidor Police Department and Chief Rod Carroll honored some officers’ selfless actions in an award ceremony.

Sgt Ethan Mansfield saved a woman who had made an attempt at her own life by cutting and artery. Mansfield’s quick response and training managed to prevent further blood loss and saved the woman’s life.

In September 2024 two officers, Michael Stephenson and Ashton Moss responded to a call of a house on fire when they were made aware of two young children still inside. Together both officers managed to find an escape route through a window that was being blocked by an AC unit. It took the strength of both officers to rip the unit of window without the use of tools and rescue both children.

Dispatch Supervisor Amber Wyatt received a call from a man who had locked himself in a garage with his vehicle running in an attempt on his life. Wyatt along with the help of Sgt. Ethan Mansfield and Sgt Josh Lockett were able to find this individual and get him out of the garage before being affected by the carbon monoxide buildup.
