13-year-old male arrested on murder charge in Orange

A 13-year-old male has been taken into custody in relation to Monday’s fatal shooting of an 18-year-old.

The teen, from Orange, is being held at the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Justice Center in Beaumont.

Police do not believe there are any other suspects at this time.

Orange Police Department was dispatched at 3:44 p.m. Monday to 410 Hydrangea Ave. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival they found a deceased male identified as Demetrious Braud, 18, of Beaumont inside the home with an apparent gunshot wound, according to a news release from OPD.

Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Judge Stagner arrived on the scene and ordered an autopsy to be completed.

During the investigation, a directive to apprehend was obtained for a 13-year-old male, who resides in Orange, for a charge of murder.  His name is not being released due to his age.

At 7:30 a.m. Tuesday the juvenile was taken into custody without incident.  The case is ongoing and under investigation by the City of Orange Police Department.
