Multi-vehicle crash blocks off I-10 into Louisiana, causes traffic back up for miles

An incident regarding multiple vehicles occurred at approximately 1:35 a.m. Dec.20 on Interstate Highway 10 according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

I-10 east and westbound have been cleared as of 10:15 a.m. according to Texas DPS.

An International Truck trailer reportedly struck a piece of equipment that had fallen from a vehicle and was left in the roadway and then struck the inside concrete barrier, which was pushed into the eastbound lane. A Volvo truck tractor semi-trailer traveling east then struck the concrete barrier, which pushed it back into the westbound lane, where it struck a Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer and a Chevrolet Malibu that was stopped as a result of the initial crash.

East and Westbound traffic lanes were completely shut down with Eastbound traffic being diverted to Highway 87 then Highway 12 at the 877-mile marker in Texas.

Louisiana State Police diverted traffic at the 4-mile marker for motorists traveling into Texas.
