ORANGE — A man is dead following a police chase and an officer involved shooting Tuesday morning.
The incident began with a disturbance just after 9 a.m. in Bridge City. The alleged suspect fled and a chase ensued onto Texas 73 where a Chambers County Sheriff’s motorcycle deputy was working on a heavy equipment transport convoy and was injured by a vehicle in the chase. His injuries are not serious, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Detective Colton Havard said.
The chase continued into Orange to 15th Street and Green Avenue where shots were fired.
The suspect was killed and a deputy received a minor injury to their leg, possibly from a ricocheted bullet.
Havard said multiple agencies were involved in the incident including Orange County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, Orange County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Orange Police Department, West Orange Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
DPS will likely be the lead in the investigation, Havard said.
