ORANGE COUNTY — A Bridge City man was reportedly intoxicated when he lost control of his vehicle causing it to overturn in the water off Bailey Road while driving with two juveniles in the car.
Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers arrested Benjamin Moore, 37, following the crash Monday. Preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 4:15 p.m. Monday, a 2011 Ford Fusion was traveling north. It is reported that the driver was traveling at an unsafe speed around a curve and lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn into the nearby water. Upon making contact with the driver, the Trooper observed signs of impairment and the driver was subsequently arrested on intoxication charges, according to information from DPS.
Moore was not injured. His two passengers, identified as a 15-year-old female and a 14-year-old female, were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Moore was transported to the Orange County Jail where he was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child less than 15-years of age, and two counts of endangering a child, all felony offenses. Bonds were set at $25,000 each.
