PINEHURST — A man seen on surveillance camera footage reportedly stealing donations from a local nonprofit has been identified.
The person was identified Dec. 18, just days after Rita Monson, president of Friends Helping Friends, took to social media with the video of the crime and asking the public’s help.
The video showed a man tossing bags of items into the back of a vehicle.
Monson said on Facebook the donation came in at 10 p.m. and the man showed up at 3 a.m. Dec. 15. She said officials monitor and take care of all donations that come in at a time team members can get to them.
A representative with the Pinehurst Police Department said the man has been identified and was given a trespass warning.
The man’s name is not being released and the incident is under investigation.
Friends Helping Friends is a nonprofit located at 2112 35th St. in Orange that has a thrift store and also assists those in need.
