A Vidor man was indicted, by the Jefferson County Grand Jury on Wednesday, for possession of a controlled substance when a baggie of crystal methamphetamine was discovered in his possession after being arrested for multiple outstanding warrants with the city of Beaumont.
Beaumont police officers responded to a call in reference to an auto theft (non-motorized) at the 9200 block of Gardner Street in Beaumont on March 23, 2019.
Dustin Martin, 33, told the officer he was moving the trailer to a residence down the road.
As his name was run through Tele-Type, several warrants with the city of Beaumont were confirmed and Martin was placed under arrest.
While being searched, a baggie of crystal methamphetamine was discovered in Martin’s front pocket.
An indictment is not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
