Rozenia Johnson (Cook)

Rozenia Johnson (Cook) was born on December 19, 1932 to the late Donnie and Wade Johnson in Rayville La. On December 25th, 1946 Rozenia married J.D Cook the only love of her life and moved to Orange, TX in 1947 and began their lives together. She was married to J D for 70 years and 1 month until his death in Jan 2017.
Rozenia united with Mt. Sinai Baptist Church upon arrival to Orange and remained a faithfull member until her health failed. She was a faithfull member to the Gospel Choir, Usher Board, and her passion the Junior and Senior Red Circles where she impacted many young ladies lives. She was also a active Member of The Heroines of Jericho Court #133.
Rozenia and J D were the parents of eight children, six boys Robert Earl (deceased), Theodis (deceased), Sylvester Lee, Tommy Wayne(Debra) , Dezra Lewis, all of Orange TX and Flintley (Evelyn) of Schertz, TX. Two daughters, Shirley (Cecil) of Orange and Venessa (deceased). They also partially raised three grandchildren after their mother passed, Kanesha Cook , Toshia and Joshua Simmons. Another granddaughter Dezeray Cook and great granddaughter Amber Kay Cook were also very much influenced staying in their home. Added to their list is two nephews Harold and Cardell Smith (deceased) whose mother Louise Smith, also passed.
Rozenia worked at WOCISD cafeteria for 22 years before retiring in 1995. She had a real passion for children and influenced many of the students she came in contact with.
Rozenia departed this life on Thursday, Jan 17th at Christus St Elizabeth Hospital Beaumont, TX after a short illness. Her Home going service will be on Saturday January 26, 2019 at the Mt Sinai Baptist Church, 1109 N 2nd St Orange, Tx 77630 at 12:00 PM under the direction of Geter Funeral Home .
She is survived by four sons, one daughter, 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchilren, 2 great great grandchildren making her the head of five generations. She is also survived by one brother Jesse Craven, 4 Sister in Laws Doretha Robinson, Gertha Shadell, Patricia Edwards, and Alma Lane. She also leaves several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many many friends.
