Stepdaughter’s boyfriend indicted for murder

VIDOR — Orange County Grand Jury returned an indictment for the murder of Gregory Paul Goldsmith on July 4, 2017 in the 100 Block of Carla Street in Vidor.

Detectives with the Vidor Police Department located Keenan LeDoux, 19, of Vidor, and placed him under arrest for murder.

LeDoux was transported to the Orange County Jail, where he is being held on a bond of $100,000.

Keenan Ledoux is the boyfriend of Gregory Goldsmith’s stepdaughter.

Vidor Police Department Dispatch had received a call of a shooting at 8:17 p.m. on July 4, 2017.

Upon arrival, the deputies found the victim, Smith, being treated by medics from Acadian Ambulance Service.

Smith was declared deceased by the medics at the scene and later pronounced by Justice of the Peace Joy Dubose-Simonton.

The shooter was detained in the area by deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. He was released and no arrests were made at that time.

Vidor Police Department initiated a death investigation and spoke to several witnesses to the shooting.

According to a press release at the time of the shooting, the incident stems from a family dispute.
