Jeanne Nelson Mullins

Jeanne Nelson Mullins, of Bridge City, Texas, was born on October 21, 1924 and passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018,in Beaumont, Texas. Jeanne graduated from Pell City High School in Pell City, Alabama, May of 1941. In 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, George Belton “Moon” Mullins, Jr. Jeanne and Moon were married for 64 years, raising four children. They resided in Bridge City, Texas for 45 years.
Jeanne fulfilled many roles during her lifetime, in addition to being a full-time Mom. She was a bank teller, Rebekah Lodge Member, church secretary, and assisted Moon in running the family business in Alabama. While her children were in high school in Texas, one of her favorite activities was writing for the Penny Record Newspaper in Bridge City. Her weekly column was called “Campus Whispers,” which created a lot of enjoyment for not only her, but also for the students of Bridge City High School.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband George “Moon” Mullins and her son, Dennis Nelson Mullins. She is survived by her children, Maureen Croley of Beaumont, Texas, George B.Mullins, Ill and wife Kay of Big Canoe, Georgia, and Melissa Phillips and husband Johnny of Cedar Park, Texas; seven grandchildren: Jason Croley and wife Kathleen of Houston, Texas, Collin Croley and wife Alicia of Houston, Texas, Roger Croley and wife Rosa of Beaumont,
Texas, Amanda Vail and husband Mark of Atlanta, Georgia, Meagan Schott and husband Ryan of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lauren Ranson and husband Aaron of Fairfax, Virginia and
Ashley Griswell and husband Tony of Griffin, Georgia; seven great-grandchildren: Max and Margaret Croley of Houston, Texas, Clayton, Hunter and Camille Croley of Houston, Texas, Miley Pousson of Beaumont, Texas, and Simon Vail of Atlanta, Georgia.
Jeanne and Moon will be taken home to Pell City, Alabama, and laid to rest in a family plot beside her parents, sisters and their spouses. The family thanks her many friends, family and caregivers for being an important part of Jeanne’s bountiful life. A special thank you to the Administration and Staff of Brookdale Assisted Living for their loving care and friendship, and especially to her companions, Carol Rainwater, Diane Hockless and Mary Cane … your love and attention were invaluable.
