Charles M. “Doc” Kinney, SFC USA Ret., 77, of Orange, Texas, passed away on September 25, 2017, at his home surrounded by loved ones.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
A gathering will be held from 6:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Capps Funeral Home in Tylertown, Mississippi. Charles will be buried with full military honors at McGee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, on March 10, 1940, Charles was the son of Charles Malcom Kinney, Jr. and Adeline P. (Mendes) Kinney. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years and retired from the United States Army after 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Masonic Lodge. Charles was a member of the Texas Military Honor Team, owned Peaceful Acres, and was the author of the book “Borrowed Time: A Medic’s view of Vietnam”. He will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Adeline Kinney; brothers, Raymond Kinney and Michael P. Kinney; mother-in-law; father-in-law; sisters-in-law; and his brother-in-law.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kinney; nieces and nephews, Brian Kinney and wife Lisa, Kelly Medeiros and husband Scott, Matthew Kinney, Jim Evans and wife Traci, Karen Tynes and husband Mark, Mike Evans and wife Trudi, Jeffrey Lambert and wife Sue, Michael Secoy and husband Clark, and Lisa Smith and husband Randy; brother-in-law, Dale Evans; brother, Kenneth D. Kinney; sisters-in-law, Peggy and Nancy Kinney; and numerous other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like for memorial contributions to be made to the charity of your choice.
