After a week of learning about finance, computer programing and the fine arts at the Lamar State College – Orange Kids to College Camp the children ranging from 9 to 14 years old were acknowledged for their hard work at a ceremony at the Student Center. With their families and friends in the audience, the children put on skits, read poetry, spoke about finance and shared their new found knowledge of computer programing. The evening was concluded with the children who attended the camp receiving certificates of completion. Division Director of mathematics and education leisure learning Suzonne Crockett said, “The reason why the college holds the Kids to College camp every summer is simple, to help children fall in love with learning”.
