Special to The Leader

For the past ten years, Vidor ISD Community Education has offered online learning through the Lumens registration portal, with courses from a company called Ed2Go. Now, in addition to Ed2Go, VISD has added even more online learning through ProTrain and UGotClass.

“I’m very excited about the new opportunities out there,” says VISD Coordinator of Community Relations Sally Andrews.  “We have options for people hoping to get certifications and job training, certificate courses, folks who need to pick up Spanish for their workplace situations, or things for those who just want to learn something new.”

There is a huge business and professional section, classes in health care, courses for educators, technology and software learning, Spanish for many different scenarios, and even workplace readiness for those getting prepared to enter or re-enter the workforce.  There are courses in all price ranges, according to Andrews, and something for everyone.

To look at the courses, patrons should visit the district’s website at www.vidorisd.org.  There is a Community tab, then the choice should be Community Ed.   That will lead one to sign up for an account on the Community Education website, so that all courses can be paid for online with a credit card.  “To browse, patrons needs to choose Browse, then Online Courses,” says Andrews.  “They can spend a whole morning exploring what is offered on our site!  Who knows?  It might lead to a new career path for someone.”
