VIDOR — As Orange County newly elected officials were swearing in on Sunday, City of Vidor Councilman Ward 4 Michael Stephenson submitted a letter of resignation from the city council.
Stephenson said, in the letter sent to Mayor Robert Viator, City Manager Mike Kunst and Members of Vidor City Council, Stephenson and his wife purchased a house outside the city therefore forfeiting his remaining term
“It has been a great privilege to serve the citizens of Vidor and work with the Mayor, council, and employees for the last three and half years,” Stephenson wrote. “The programs and policies set forth during this time have moved the city forward in many ways, all for the greater good of the community. There is still work to be done but I have all the confidence that the remaining council will continue on the path that has been started which will result in a city that the citizens are proud to call theirs.”
The Council will consider filling his vacancy at the regular council meeting at 7 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 12, 2017 at Vidor City Hall located at 1395 North Main Street in Vidor.
