Volley wrap: Lady Bears saw off Lady Horns

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears remained in second-place in the district volleyball standings by notching a 25-15, 13-25, 25-17, 25-22 victory over the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns Tuesday night at The Bear Cave.

The win pushed the Lady Bears (24-13) to 5-1 in district play, just one game back of first-place Silsbee.

For the Lady Bears Renna Toomey had two aces, seven kills, 21 digs and a block. Kayla Dominguez notched 27 assists and 13 digs. Morgan Weaver posted an ace, 21 assists and two digs.

Kaitlin Avery had an ace, 11 kills, one assist, 15 digs and a block. Raley Broussard had 2 digs. Ally White notched an ace, 14 kills, three digs, and five blocks. Berkley Dobranski claimed four kills, one assist, 11 digs and two blocks. Skyler Ferguson had a block.

Madison Taggart had an ace, 12 kills, 16 digs, and six blocks. Isa Weizenegger had an assist, and four digs. Hallie Stack claimed three kills, an assist, three digs and a block while McCartney Miller had 14 digs.

LC-M will host WO-S Friday.

BRIDGE CITY — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals snagged their first district volleyball win of the season by downing the Orangefield Lady Bobcats 25-21, 25-17, 15-25, 15-25, 15-10 at Cardinal Gym Tuesday night.

The win puts Bridge City at 1-5 in district play and dropped Orangefield to 1-5.

For Orangefield Ashlyn Turley had five kills. three blocks, four digs and 17 assists. Bailee Click had seven kills and a block. Anna VanPelt contributed seven kills and six digs.

Shelby Perales posted three aces, seven kills, six digs and three blocks. Jessica Metts contribbuted four kills. Evie Arceneaux finished with five kills and 22 digs. Devany Crain had four aces and 15 digs. Faith Fregia posted two aces and 18 digs while Taylor Decker added 13 digs.

Orangefield will visit Hamshire-Fannett Friday while Bridge City travels to Silsbee.

 

D’ville Def. Evadale

Deweyville defeated Hull-Daisetta in straight sets Tuesday night 20, 20, 13.  The win moves Deweyville to 23-11 on the year (5-1 in district)

They travel to first place Evadale on Friday for a game beginning with varsity at 4:30.
