Yvonne Elois Fulgham Slayter

Yvonne Elois Fulgham Slayter passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the age of 92.  She knew Christ as her Lord and we are comforted by the knowledge that she is with Him.  She lived life taking pleasure in small everyday things.  She was loved by her family and had many friends.  She never met a person she didn’t like and she went out of her way to get to know people.

Her roots were in East Texas where she grew up in Brownsboro and still has family there.  As young adults, Yvonne and her only sister, Juanice, moved to Orange following their parents to work during the war.  They all remained in Orange where Yvonne met and married her husband, Leon Slayter, and had two children.  Yvonne was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Orange and in later years the Trinity Baptist Church.  She loved her church and Sunday school class.  She enjoyed travelling from short trips to long journeys.  She was a care giver at heart and she had many devoted friends.

Yvonne, referred to by family as Meme, was preceded in death by her husband Leon, Mother and Father, Lois and Carry Fulgham.  She leaves behind daughter Barbara Slayter Sparks and son-in-law John Sparks, son Larry Slayter and daughter-in-law, Pam, grandchildren Leslie Slayter and husband Sherif Ali, Andy Sparks and wife Gabi, Kerri Sparks Green and husband Dustin and great grandchildren John Sparks, Sophia Sparks and Olivia Green and beloved sister Juanice Fulgham as well as cousins and many friends.

Services and visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church at 1819 N 16th ST.

Visitation is at 1:00PM and funeral service is at 2:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions can be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund.
