Orange Christmas: Holiday events come to Orange County

December is filled with plenty of events happening in our area to celebrate the holiday season. Here is a list of just some of the events that are happening in Orange County.

Saturday, Dec 7

  • The City of Orange hosts Christmas Downtown Dec.7-8 to kick off the holiday festivities. The day begins with Breakfast with Santa at Spanky’s Bar and Grill at 7:30 a.m. The Christmas parade begins at 6 p.m. followed by the Christmas tree lighting in Stark Park.
  • The Stark Museum hosts a Reindeer Trail open house for kids to listen to Buddy the Elf at storytime and share some hot chocolate from 2-7 p.m. 
  • The next day Dec 8, Heritage House hosts Santa Paws from 1-3 p.m. and Candlelight Tours from 6-8 p.m.  
  • Bridge City Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 15th annual Christmas Light Parade, Saturday, Dec.7 at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 10

  • The Orange Public Library hosts Movie Day with special showings of holiday classics such as Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas. The Event is free to the public and will begin at 10 a.m. The Library is located at 220 5th St. 

Dec. 11 

  • The Lutcher Theater puts on a show with A Very Electric Christmas, a special show that will light up the stage for the whole family. The show runs Dec 11-12 at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
  • The Golden Triangle Big Band performs holiday classics at the Vidor High School Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for all ages.

Saturday, Dec. 14 

  • Shangri-La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center host Dreaming of a Green Christmas. Visitors can participate in multiple holiday activities, including making ornaments using natural materials. Admission is free and the event will begin at 10:30 a.m.
  •  Stark Museum of Art hosts Reindeer Games Day bringing live reindeer to their courtyard along with special arts and crafts and a reindeer-themed scavenger hunt from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Dec. 18 

  • Holiday Night at the W.H. Stark House begins at 4:30 p.m. to welcome people to tour the house when it shines at its brightest.
