Robert Elzie Reeves

Robert Elzie Reeves, 77, of Mauriceville passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at his home.
Robert was born on September 9, 1942 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to parents, Catherine (Browning) and William Warren Reeves. He was a Army Veteran serving his country during the Vietnam War. He had lived in the Mauriceville area since 1989 and he was a member of First Baptist Church of Mauriceville. He was an inspector for many years working at Neches Butane, Texaco, Mobil Oil and Premcor. He enjoyed going fishing, riding his motorcycle, woodworking and just working on things around the house. Robert also liked working in his rose garden and cheering on the Cowboys and Astros. He enjoyed tailgating at LU Cardinals Football games and going to the casino. Robert was a loving and giving man who will be dearly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen Lee Holzapfel Reeves, his wife, Teresa Ball Reeves and his sister, Betty Jane Heintschel.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Dominga “Dee” Lange Reeves of Mauriceville, his daughter, Helen Reeves of Groves, adopted daughter, Cindi Durham of Groves, his sister, Bertha Faye Lauve and her husband, Harold of Wildwood, his step-children, Rina Merchant of Mauriceville, Hector Illa of Orange, Mario Illa and his wife, Linda of Houston and his side kick, Gina Illa of Mauriceville. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, a nephew and his beloved dog, Levi.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. A 2:00 PM funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Brown. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.
