Preston Conway

Preston Conway, 88, formerly of Orange, Texas, passed away on January 17, 2017, at his home in Hemphill, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Lynn Ashcraft. Burial will follow at Parish Cemetery in Little Cypress, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on February 29, 1928, Preston was the son of Albert Preston Conway, Sr. and Dora Ruff Conway. He honorably served his country in the United States Merchant Marines and owned and operated a construction company, Preston Conway Cement Finishing, for 55 years. Preston was a member of the Masonic Lodge 126, Shriners, Jaycees, a founder of the Orange Boat Club, Orange County Deputy Reserve, and also a member of North Orange Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Conway; and his sister, Mildred Potier.

Preston is survived by his children, Connie and Robert Daniels, of Hemphill, TX, Claudia and David Watson, of Elk Grove, CA, and Jenifer and James Landry, of Lumberton, TX; grandchildren, Reid Cox, Randi Cox, Heather Beth, Heidi Phillips, Maverick Phillips, Troy Watson, and Robert Watson; 9 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Virgil Conway and Tommy Conway.
