Lavern Dorr Premeaux

Lavern Dorr Premeaux, 97, of Beaumont, Texas, former resident of Orange, Texas and Vinton, Louisiana, passed away on February 19, 2018, in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on July 8, 1920, she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Dorr and Agnes (Gonsoulin) Dorr. Lavern was a graduate of Lutcher Stark High School. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society. Her first job was working at First National Bank in Orange, then at DuPont Sabine Credit Union, and lastly at West Cal-Cam Hospital in Sulphur, Louisiana where she was a secretary in medical records. Lavern enjoyed spending her time knitting, crocheting, and doing needle point. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis Joseph Premeaux; sister, Barbara Mouton; and her brothers, L.C. Dorr and Andrew Dorr.

Lavern is survived by her sister, Marlene Harvey, of Katy, TX; brother-in-law, Jim Mouton, of Galveston, TX; and her nieces and nephews, Christopher Dorr Mouton and wife Laura Volentine, of Houston, Pamela Ann Butler, of Houston, TX, Jimmy Premeaux, of Vinton, LA, Steve Marsh, of San Clemente, CA, and Donna Marsh.
