One injured in single vehicle crash

A Bridge City man was injured Monday afternoon following a wreck on State Highway 62.

Jack Stout, an 82-year-old resident of Bridge City, was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont on Monday afternoon after being injured in a single vehicle crash.

According to Trooper Stephanie Davis of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Stout was traveling south on State Highway 62 shortly before 2:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21, when, “for an unknown reason,” Stout’s 2004 Ford SUV drifted to the right and left the roadway where it struck a culvert.

The SUV reportedly went airborne, where it then landed on a second culvert and then flipped over onto its left side. Stout was still secured in the vehicle by his seatbelt when emergency personnel arrived.

The DPS report stated Stout suffered head injuries in the crash, but he was responsive as emergency personnel prepared to transport him to the hospital. No one else was in the vehicle.
