Brink’s employee robbed, suspects switched vehicles while fleeing

MAURICEVILLE — The brazen robbery of a Brink’s employee earlier this week has prompted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to ask the public for any information on the case.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a robbery in progress at about 5 p.m. Wednesday at Wellspring Credit Union in Mauriceville, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, investigators discovered the suspects had already fled the scene in a white Jeep Wagoneer. Apparently, as the Brinks employee was attempting to install “cash cassettes” into the ATM located in their parking lot, the white Jeep Wagoneer pulled up to the Brinks employee and the suspects were able to overtake the Brinks employee by surprise. They took the “cash cassettes” and fled the scene.

Moments afterwards, the sheriff’s office received information the white Jeep Wagoneer had been located off of Len Street which is also in the Mauriceville area. As that location was being processed for evidence it was discovered the suspects “ditched” the Wagoneer on Len Street, then got into a gray sedan and drove off in an unknown direction.

Several of the emptied “cash cassettes” have been located by investigators.

This is an active investigation and investigators are currently following up on leads and speaking with witnesses. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is requesting if anyone has any information regarding this case please contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, 409-883-2612.
