UPDATE: Man shot in leg, dies Wednesday

UPDATE:

The identity of the man who was shot in the leg is 37 year old Daryl King of Orange, Texas. The gunshot caused extensive damage to King’s leg. King eventually succumbed to the injury and died. The autopsy is scheduled on Thursday morning, July 23, 2015.

Detectives are still following up on information that led to the shooting and more details will be released as it becomes available. At this time, no charges have been filed on the man who shot King.

A local man was transported to a Beaumont hospital early Wednesday after being shot in the leg.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is continuing an investigation which began early Wednesday after an Orange resident was shot in the leg. The incident occurred at approximately 6:10 a.m., Wednesday, in the 5200 block of Avenue A in Orange.

According to information provided by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the residence and located the unidentified man with a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Beaumont.

The person believed to be responsible for the shooting is cooperating with law enforcement. Detectives are continuing the investigation. No other information is available at this time on the shooting.
