LAKE CHARLES —
On July 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., the Lake Charles Police department’s Sex Offender Registry/Child Predator Division was contacted by a concerned citizen that a Sex Offender was living near a home with children.
Detective Michael Nicosia was given the name of Gary James Gobert, a Louisiana Tier 3 Sex Offender who registered in September 2014 with a listed address on Easton Street. Detective Nicosia travelled to 3rd Avenue and located Gobert at an address that he had not registered. Detective Nicosia discovered that Gobert’s Identification and Louisiana driver’s license also reflected the incorrect address. Detective Nicosia learned that Gobert moved to the 3rd Avenue address two months ago and he did not report to Lake Charles Police Department.
Gobert was convicted in 1989 for Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. Offender’s victim was a 12 year old male. Gobert was also arrested in 1996 for Enticing Persons into Prostitution.
Gobert is a Tier 3 Sex Offender requiring him to register for life.
