WEST ORANGE – West Orange-Stark football standouts junior Tyrone Brown and senior Quincy Ledet both landed on the Texas Sportwriters’ Association Class 4A All-State Football Team that was announced Thursday.
Brown, fresh off of winning the Willie Ray Smith Defensive Award last Monday night, made Second Team All-State linebacker.
Brown notched 149 tackles, 88 of them solo, for District 10-4A Division II’s top-ranked defense. He had five sacks, seven more quarterback pressures, two deflected passes and four more tackles for losses. The Baylor verbal commit will look to have another big campaign for the Mustangs next season.
Ledet was named Honorable Mention on both sides of the ball from his offensive tackle position along with his defensive line spot.
On offense, Ledet was known for his strength up front and his pancaking blocks that set the tone for the WO-S running game.
On defense, he was in on 71 tackles and had five sacks. Ledet will continue his talents at the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
Several other players from Southeast Texas made the team.
Jasper defensive back Terrien Collins made Second Team in the secondary. Hamshire-Fannett guard Gabe Constance made Honorable Mention along with Silsbee kicker Diego Gonzales and Silsbee defensive lineman Lawrence Williams and Silsbee linebacker Isaiah Henderson.
