Bobcats motor past Wildcats, 76-42

ORANGEFIELD – It was a cakewalk from the opening tip all the way to the final horn for the Orangefield Bobcats as they crushed the Kirbyville Wildcats 76-42 in District 22-3A action at Bobcat Gym Friday night.

The Bobcats (22-6, 5-2) zipped out to a 22-9 lead by the end of the first quarter and the Wildcats (1-6 in district) simply had no answer.

Kaiden DuBose led the Bobcat arsenal with 18 points, 11 of them coming in the third quarter when the Bobcats expanded their 33-20 halftime lead to 57-22 by the end of the third after a 24-2 run.

Bobcat post Valentin Catt chimed in with another double-double as he picked up 14 points while snagging a game-high 12 rebounds.

Logan Risinger had 11 points and two three-pointers for the Bobcats. Kyle Pickard had his best game in a Bobcat uniform as he came off the bench to sink 10 points. Heston Puckett and Cade Prejean had six points apiece while Tyrone Waggoner had eight rebounds.

The Wildcats received a solid effort from Rylon Ward. Ward kept the Wildcats in it in the first half as he buried five three-pointers in the half. He finished with a game-high 21 points and six three-pointers.

Dylan Bishop had 10 points for the Wildcats while James Burchett pulled in seven rebounds and Tylan Cooper grabbed six.

The Bobcats finished with a commanding 43-27 rebounding edge and just turned the ball over seven times. Kirbyville finished with 13 turnovers and went 8-of-14 from the free-throw line. The Bobcats were 12-of-22 from the charity stripe.

The Bobcats will open up the second half of 22-3A play Tuesday when they visit first-place East Chambers.
