A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) patrol car was struck at approximately 6:25 p.m. Sunday on State Highway 62, near Farm to Market Road 105.
Initial reports indicate the Trooper was responding to a reckless driver call that was reported on State Highway 62.
The northbound DPS patrol car observed the reckless driver traveling southbound and the Trooper made a u-turn to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle.
Due to wet road conditions, the patrol unit was rear-ended by a 2014 Chevrolet passenger vehicle.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Donna Stewart, 44, of Orange, and her passenger were both transported to Baptist hospital in Beaumont. Their injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
The DPS Trooper was also transported by ambulance to Baptist hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a press release.
