Flooding regenerates concerns for drainage issues

Tuesday was a flashback to last August for many, as residents grew more concerned with the rainfall as the day passed.
The storm, initially, was predicted to slow down and dissipated as the afternoon went by.
Wednesday’s forecast of 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 85 with Southeast wind five to 10 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Homes in Vidor, Orange, Bridge City and Orangefield were reported as taking in water on Tuesday afternoon.
In a press release from Orangefield Water Supply Corp., it is asked residents to use water sparingly.
“Due to the heavy rains, we are experiencing sewer issues in all areas. Please use water sparingly. Our staff has been working and will continue to work until the problems are resolved.”
A Red Cross Shelter was set up at the Orange County Convention and Expo Center, 11475 FM 1442, Orange Texas 77630 for all those citizens that have been displaced due to the flooding on Tuesday.
Some residents opted to find relatives on the north side of the county to stay with for the night.
Sand was made available for residents at Pct. 1, 3, and 4 Maintenance Barns. Residents were encouraged to bring their own shovel and to bag the sand to be used to help protect their home from the rising waters.
