JASPER – Getting four runs batted in from senior standout catcher Schuyler Thibodaux and another solid performance on the mound by Peyton Havard, the Bridge City Cardinals are motoring to the Area Round of the playoffs with a 8-1 Game Two victory over the Huntington Red Devils Friday at Jasper High School.
Thibodaux produced three of the nine hits by the Cardinals (23-7-1).
Meanwhile Havard tossed 6 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts as the Red Devils (13-20) could muster just two hits.
Logan Hamm added two hits and a RBI for the Cardinals.
Bridge City scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back and also had a big four-run fourth frame.
The Cardinals will move to face either Hardin-Jefferson or Houston Washington in the Area Round next week.
