Orange Community Players (OCP) is hoping to collect more funds over the weekend from their annual Christmas fund raiser, Yuletide, a variety show of song and dance.

Performances are set for 7:37 p.m. both Fri. and Sat. nights, Dec. 8-9, in the First United Methodist Church Slade Chapel in downtown Orange.

The theater was completely destroyed in the devastating storm.

All costumes, accessories, props, furniture, music, scenery, paint supplies, sheetrock, curtains, stage, flooring, etc. were destroyed in the flood.  As a result, the Yuletide show will be held at the Slade Memorial Chapel, off Elm Street, of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Orange, since the theater was so severely damaged.  Heavy appetizers and sandwiches will be served at 7 p.m. Desserts and wine will be offered at intermission.  The Christmas Yuletide show is directed by both Paul Burch and Codie Vasquez.

The $25 per person ticket covers the show, lots of good food, beverages, and desserts.  Ten percent of the profits benefit the children’s program at Orange First United Methodist.  The rest of the funding will help the OCP group reconstruct their community theater.  Any physical or monetary assistance is appreciated.  The arts must be kept alive and well in Orange, Texas.

OCP members hope to soon receive some grants to help them with reconstruction. OCP has been a part of the Orange cultural community for over 60 years.  They continue to persevere to remain a vital part of the Orange arts community.

Looking Good Salon is also the new drop-off point for gently used books for the annual AAUW (American Association of University Women) Book Sale on the porch of the Lutcher Theater for Art in the Park, set for Sat., April 7, 2018, in Stark Park, Orange.  Paul Burch welcomes the opportunity to serve as a book collection site for AAUW.
