Lady Cards sweep H-J to advance to regional semifinals

PORT NECHES — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals advanced to the Class 4A Region III semifinals by downing the Hardin-Jefferson Lady Hawks 6-1 for a sweep in the regional quarters at Port Neches-Groves High School Friday night.
Kassidy Wilbur got the win on the mound for the Lady Cardinals as she allowed just five hits while striking out five.
Peyton Trapp was 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Cardinals. Meagan Sourdellia was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Kyndall Harrison went 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Chloe Halliburton had a pinch hit two-run single in top of the seventh.
Wilbur scored two runs while Maggie Garcia and Abby Anderson scored a run apiece.
Bridge City will face either Lorena or Salado in the regional semifinals next week.
