Big seventh lifts Jasper past WO-S

WEST ORANGE — The West Orange-Stark dropped a 9-4 decision to the Jasper Bulldogs at Anderson Field Thursday night in non-district action.
Second baseman for the Bulldogs Victor Williams Jr. went 3-for-4 on the night but reached base on all four at bats. Williams raked up two singles on the night along with a stolen base and two runs scored out of the two hole for the Bulldogs.
The Mustangs led in every inning aside from the seventh inning. Jack Dallas opened the game up with an early right field triple to drive in a run to get the Mustangs going.
In the second inning shortstop KJ Miller knocked in two runs with a long fly ball that the Bulldog right fielder fumbled. That put the Mustangs up 3-0 in the second inning.
After a Mustang error, the Bulldogs capitalize by playing small ball and moving the runner with sacrifice flies. After four innings the Mustangs were up 3-1.
The Bulldogs would score two more times in the fifth inning. Leo Escalante brought in two runs on a hard line drive to center field, making the score 3-3.
West Orange-Stark would answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the fifth. Ryan Ragsdale would bring in Miller on a hard hit to the outfield putting the Mustangs up one 4-3.
Now the seventh inning is where it got tough for the Mustangs. After a leadoff walk the Bulldogs took full advantage of the mistake with the first six hitters of the inning all reaching base and all of them scored. Those runs all accounted for the difference in the game.
The West Orange-Stark Mustangs pounded out a 12-1 victory over the Liberty Panthers Tuesday in non-district action.
Jack Dallas got the win on the hill for the Mustangs 912-2) and collected eight strikeouts.
BB Tezeno was 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two steals. Chad Dallas was 1-for-1 with three walks and three RBI. Tre’ Benard was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Jack Dallas was also 1-for-2.
