West Orange-Stark baseball standouts KJ Miller and Payton Robertson were both recently named to All-State Class 4A Teams by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.
Miller was a First Team selection on the THSBCA All-State Team while Robertson was a First Team selection on the THSBCA All-Star All-State Team.
Both players played pivotal roles in the Mustangs’ success the last two seasons, including a trip to the Class 4A State Finals in 2015 and a trip to the 4A Region III quarterfinals this past season.
Robertson, who graduated in May and signed to play college baseball for Lamar University, hit .374 for the season. He led the Mustangs in both hits (34) and runs scored (35) to go along with eight doubles and 11 RBI.
Robertson participated in the THSBCA All-Star Game for the South squad last Saturday. He went 1-for-2 at the plate, drove in a run and swiped a base.
Millert, who will be a senior next season, led the Mustangs with a .451 average and was second in hits with 32. He was second on the team with 19 RBI and led the way with 11 doubles despite missing much of the District 24-4A campaign due to a hand injury.
Also on the team with Miller was Silsbee standout pitcher Trevis Sundgreen, who made the Third Team.
