Bobcat diamond teams nab 24-4A wins, so do Bear boys

Both the Orangefield Bobcats and Orangefield Lady Bobcats snared some big District 24-4A wins on Tuesday night.
The Bobcat boys opened 24-4A play with some flair as they took down the Silsbee Tigers 5-4.
Mason Gonzales went 1-for-3 with two runs batted in and scored a run.
Payton Lathrop and Ryan Deutsch both went 1-for-3 and scored a run apiece. Johnny Armstrong drove in two runs while Dylan Anthony and Brett Fregia scored a run apiece.
Lathrop and Armstrong both pitched early while Josh Chandler closed it out with 5 2/3 innings of relief.
The Lady Bobcats scooted past the Lady Tigers 11-5 to improve to 1-2 in 24-4A play.
Kaylee Ancelot picked up the win on the hill and struck out six Lady Tigers.
Kinley McFarlin had three singles for the Lady Bobcats while Ancelot belted a pair of doubles.
Maleah Saucedo belted a home run to highlight the big night. Haley Fontenot had a double while Kristin Broussard, Autumn Frost and Jessica Metts each had singles.
Both the Bobcat diamond teams will head to Sour Lake Friday, Mar. 18 to take on Hardin-Jefferson.
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville baseball team improved to 13-3 on the season and more importantly 1-0 in 24-4A play as they cruised past the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns 9-1 Wednesday afternoon.
Slade Green nabbed the win on the hill for the Bears. Drake Trawhon highlighted the offensive arsenal by crushing a two-run home run.
The Bears are scheduled to host Bridge City Friday, Mar. 18 at 7 p.m.
The West Orange-Stark baseball games this week, which included a 24-4A opener at home against Hardin-Jefferson on Tuesday and a non-district battle with Jasper on Thursday, were canceled due to the flooding issue. The game against H-J will be made up on another date.
LC-M’s 24-4A softball games with Hamshire-Fannett and Bridge City were both canceled this week while the WO-S Lady Mustang 24-4A softball matchup against Hardin-Jefferson was canceled as wel.
