Saturday will be a very busy day in Orange, particularly at Stark Cultural Venues. In fact, there just may not be enough time to take it all in. Fortunately, one of those events will be here for a while.
Shangri La Botanical Gardens will be dealing with some very large bugs for three months. Exterminators are not the answer for these big bugs. Visitors to the gardens will expect an encounter with friendly big bugs created by David Rogers. Rogers built these big bugs larger-than-life made with all-natural materials.
Rogers travels the country and has for a number of years delighting kids of all ages with his art.
This event begins Saturday, March 5 and will be on display through May 28.
The Stark Museum will host a companion event ‘BUGS’ during the same time period the Big Bugs will be on display. According to the Stark Cultural Venues website these events are an opportunity to explore the art and science of “bugs” and “insects”.
While the world of bugs is on display at the gardens and museum, the W.H. Stark House will present 1920s Day: It’s Bee’s Knees. During these tours you can learn about the 1920s. Life was different then but people lived, worked and made their own fashion statement. At this event you may learn the Charleston or experience Prohibition.
Over at the Lutcher Theatre you can enjoy the musical comedy, “Bullets Over Broadway.” The show is hailed a “hilarious comedy” based on the screenplay of a 1994 film by Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath.
And folks this is just a sample of what you can do in Orange.
There are plenty of other events scheduled providing plenty of options for excitement, fun and inspiration right here at home.
On the horizon is the Elite Redfish series Classic Kick Off 2016. This is a major red fish fishing tournament that will bring in top pro anglers to the area. In conjunction with this event you can help raise money for pediatric brain cancer research by participating in the Redfish-Elite-Series-5K. This fun run and walk is a fundraiser for kids and will get you out of your chair.
You just ‘gotta’ make time for this!
