Bear hoop teams fare well in tourneys

SOUR LAKE — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears posted a big win Friday in the Hardin-Jefferson Marathon, defeating the Kountze Lions 45-36.
Andrew Daspit led the Bears with 14 points while Ayson Simmons chimed in with 12.
Grayland Arnold led Kountze with 17 points.
The Bears also defeated Anahuac 60-22.
Katon Brown led the way with 21 points. Daspit, Simmons and JaColven Provost each added six points.
Melvin Spencer led Anahuac with seven points.
The Bears dropped a 39-32 decision to Shepherd.
Brown led the Bear attack with 11 points while Simmons had seven.
Trevor Moye and TJ Robinson led Shepherd with 10 points apiece.
SILSBEE — The Lady Bears finished in second place in the Silver Bracket at the Kim Albers Tournament in Silsbee.
They opened pool play with a 41-40 buzzer beater loss to Evadale. Sheridan Rogers led with 13 points. They recovered by defeating Santa Fe 48-34. Sheridan Rogers led again with 14 points, and 9 rebounds, with Alia Brown adding 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
Their last game of pool play ended with a 41-23 win over Warren. Alia Brown led with 17 points, 4 steals and another block. Grace Chen added 10 more points.
The Lady Bears began bracket play with a 32-27 win over C.E. King. Sheridan Rogers scored 9 points, and 11 rebounds. Alia Brown chipped in 8 points, with 5 boards, 3 steals and 1 block. They lost in the Silver Championship game 42-37 to Hitchcock. Grace Chen led with 13 points. Alia Brown scored 10 points, pulled down 9 rebounds, had 2 steals and yet another block. Alia Brown was also named to the All -Tournament Team.
The Bridge City Lady Cardinals were also in the tournament.
They fell to Santa Fe 37-34 , defeated Liberty 37-36 and fell to Lumberton 58-42.
