Virginia Beth Ramsey Holm, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024 at the age of 86.

Born on August 17, 1937, in Starkville, Mississippi, Beth grew up in Aliceville, Alabama, before moving to Kosciusko, Mississippi, where she completed her high school education at Kosciusko High School. She later attended Mississippi State College for Women.

On May 14, 1976, Beth married the love of her life, John Raymond Holm, in Atlanta, Georgia.

They shared 38 wonderful years together until his passing in 2014. Beth was a true Southern belle, known for her graciousness, love, and welcoming spirit. She never met a stranger and always made others feel comfortable around her.

Beth grew up in the Methodist Church and loved the Lord all of her life.

Beth’s greatest love was her family. She considered being a wonderful mother her greatest accomplishment and took immense pride in her role. Her family includes her son, John Louis LeFlore III, and his wife, Theresa; son Wallace Ramsey LeFlore and his wife, Dianne; deceased daughter Virginia “Leigh” Varn, and daughter Amy Elizabeth McKinney and her husband, Marlin. She was a cherished grandmother to Jon Luc, Sam, Ben, Reed, Matthew, and Elissia (and her husband, Austin). Beth also adored her great-grandchild, Rosie.

Beth is also survived by her sister, Nancy Ramsey Bethay, and her husband, Richard, as well as her nephews, Rick Bethay and his wife, Cathy, and Walter Bethay and his wife, Kris, and her niece, Maggie, and her husband, Bruce.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Holm, her parents, William Wallace Ramsey (Gang Gang) and Virginia Mabus Ramsey (Bum Bum), her daughter, Virginia “Leigh” Varn, and her beloved puppies, Maggie, Schatze, and Max.

Beth had a passion for cooking and baking, creating delicious desserts that delighted her family and friends.

She was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for cookbooks. Antiquing and shopping were among her favorite pastimes.

In honor of Beth’s memory, memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Orange, Texas, or the Harris County ESD48 Fire Department in Katy, Texas.

Beth’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and the joy of family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the First United Methodist Church in Orange, Texas, with Reverend Lani Rousseau officiating.
