A severe weather threat today could bring Orange County and other regional residents hail and damaging winds.

There is a “Marginal Risk” for severe weather and flooding with 2 to 4 inches of rain.

There remains large uncertainty on the exact location of the heaviest rain.

The multi-day event is expected to continue with more severe weather on Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, a few of the more robust thunderstorms could produce a severe hazard Friday into Friday night.

Large hail up to the size of half dollars, damaging wind gusts up to 65 mph and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.

There is a marginal risk or basically a 5% to 14% chance for severe damaging wind gusts and large hail on Friday afternoon into Friday evening.

At this point the risk for tornadoes is very minimal or less than 2%.

A cold front will move into the area on Friday and stall near the coast by Saturday morning and remain through Sunday.

Meanwhile, a series of upper level disturbances will interact with the front producing multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms.

Confidence is high that most locations will reach or exceed 1.00 inch of rainfall across much of southeast Texas and Louisiana over the upcoming weekend.
