Bond set for driver who struck, killed bicyclist last week

Bond has been set at $400,000 total for a woman who fatally struck a bicyclist in Bridge City during the early hours of July 19.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Britni Danae Martin, 32, faces one charge of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle. The charge carries $250,000 bond.

Martin also faces one charge of accident involving death, which is set at $150,000.

Bridge City police said they received a call around 1 a.m. July 19 regarding a possible fatal accident around the 1300 block of West Roundbunch and 1442. Officers arrived at the scene and found a dark-colored 2005 Honda Civic in a ditch.

Martin, the driver of the Civic, allegedly struck a bicyclist. The cyclist, identified as 41-year-old  Jesse Hedrick, was pronounced dead on the scene.
